Welcome to First Baptist Church of Jacksonville Student Worship Arts. We hope this will be a place for you to keep in touch and up to date with our High School Worship Arts Ministry..including Good News Choir and Orchestra, the various ensembles, Refuge Band, Refuge Drama Team, Refuge Media Team and our emerging Fine Arts team.
Now a note from Dr. Jim Whitmire, Executive Pastor of Worship…
“Dear Good News Singers and Orchestra,
I was so excited about Christmas and your participation in Travis Cottrell’s “Gloria Tour” on December 14! Last May we began working on this concert, asking Travis to allow you to perform with him. It was a HUGE honor for him to say “Yes”. After seeing how you “came through” in New York last summer on tour, I knew you would do it again with Travis! The music department and the whole church “passed the ball” on to you and you sang and played with excellence!
After the holidays, you came back ready work and led the worship at the 5PM Sunday Evening service, February 8, at Pastor’s Conference . You were such a blessing to all the pastors in attendance!
I was pleased to see many members of the Good News Singers and Orchestra at auditions for the Jacksonville Passion Play this year. You are well represented as dancers, actors, crowd people, thieves on the crosses and singers. This year’s Passion Play will be April 3-5, so invite your friends and be sure to come!
After the Passion Play, you must remain faithful to attend rehearsals for our choir/orchestra tour this summer, July 3-10, to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We are working hard on plans for that! Be on time to rehearsals, stay excited, bring visitors to join choir and orchestra, but most of all stay close to the Lord so you will be Spirit filled and ready for ANY service God calls you to do.
I love you all! You know how much I enjoy “getting on to you” to make you do better and better. Jonathan loves you too.
Pray for him and follow faithfully,
Dr. Jim Whitmire”
